Harriers honor seniors
Whitehall’s cross country team tallied five senior night wins last week when they hosted Pleasant Valley, Pocono Mountain West, and Pocono Mountain East on Oct. 1.
“The girls went 3-0 on the day and have reached 6-6 with one dual meet to go before the postseason,” reported Whitehall coach Brandon Hampton. “The boys went 2-1, losing a close meet to Pocono Mountain East. They are now 5-7 with one dual meet to go.”
Top finishers for the Zephyr boys were Aiden Borkenhagen in 21st place with a time of 20:07, Habib Leyos in 27th place with a time of 20:24, and Jackson Rozycki in 29th place with a time of 20:31.
Top finishers for the Zephyr girls were Marli Jacobus in 13th place with a time of 23:44, Ashley Mendoza in 22nd place with a time of 25:10, and Kathy Chen in 26th place with a time of 26:30.
In team results, the Zephyr boys beat Pleasant Valley, 26-29, and Pocono Mountain West, 15-50, but lost to Pocono Mountain East, 31-24.

“The girls have now matched their win total from last year, and the boys have beaten it by three wins,” said Hampton. “We’re looking to end on a high note with even more wins next week and carry that momentum into the league and district meet.”
Ten Whitehall seniors were celebrated by Coach Hampton and the Zephyrs during their last home meet: Marissa Gaudiuso, Grace Tsamutalis, Kathy Chen, Cristal Perez, Aiden Borkenhagen, Jackson Rozycki, Zarius Sabater, Derek Jiminez, Josh Ramirez, and Ben Unangst.
