EHS names student of the week

Q. In what grade are you currently enrolled?

A. I am in 12th grade at Emmaus High School.

Q. Please provide the first names of your family members: parents, siblings and pets.

A. Mebam, Virginie, Tankwa, Gaiellie, Andrea, Julia and Ange.

Q. What is your favorite subject? Why?

A. Social studies and history-related classes are my favorites. I love learning about history and social studies because it is interesting to learn about our world’s history and what makes the world how it is today. I also think it is important to remember bad historical events so future generations can prevent history from repeating itself.

Q. Have you received any special awards or recognition?

A. I am a Future Business Leaders of America State Qualifier (Top 15 in state) and I have been on the honor roll at Emmaus every year of my high school career.

Q. Are you involved in any extracurricular activities? How has being involved in these organizations impacted your high school experience?

A. I am involved in Hornet Ambassadors, Future Business Leaders of America, Black Student Union, Kid to Kid Club, Activism Club, Economics Club, winter track and field and spring track and field. I’ve also been working part-time at The Shelby, a local restaurant, for about a year and a half. These organizations have shaped who I am today and helped me figure out what I want to pursue in the future. Track and field has taught me the work ethic I need to be successful in school and life in general. Black Student Union has also taught me the importance of embracing my culture during my time at Emmaus.

Q. What do you consider your biggest challenge to date?

A. My biggest challenge so far has been finding time to manage all my activities while keeping my grades up and also having time to myself to work out and spend time with family and friends.

Q. What is your next goal after high school?

A. My goal is to attend a university and pursue a major in the business field, followed by graduate school to earn my MBA or attend law school.

Q. If you could spend an evening conversing with a historically significant person, whom would you choose? Why?

A. I would choose to spend an evening with Jesus Christ, because I am Christian and my faith has helped me navigate through a lot of tough times in my life, especially during high school and He has been there to pick me back up every single time.

Q. For what would you like to be remembered?

A. I would like to be remembered for my kindness toward others, my work ethic and my impact on the school through my community work, extracurriculars and athletics.

Q. Do you have any advice for your peers?

A. Have fun, but work hard. Work hard to maintain a solid GPA, but also remember life is not all about your grades. Make sure you are taking care of your physical, mental and spiritual health. Join a sport or start going to the gym, it helps relieve stress from school and other aspects of life and the more you go the more fun it will be. Join extracurriculars as well; these look good on your resume and make school more enjoyable. Find a healthy balance and stick to it.
