Catasauqua: Library to hold anniversary event

The Public Library of Catasauqua, 302 Bridge St., will be celebrating its 100-year anniversary noon-4 p.m. Oct. 12 with a block party. There will be games, face painting, food, a puppet show and wildlife ambassadors. There will also be a special guest — Bruce the bear.

Catasauqua Community Thrift Shop, 113 Bridge St., will be holding a bag sale through Oct. 12. The price to fill a large brown paper bag is $5, and the price to fill a large white plastic kitchen garbage bag is $8.

The shop will be closed Oct. 14, 15 and 16 for cleaning and changing the clothing over from spring and summer to fall and winter fashions. The shop will reopen Oct. 17. Stop in for all new clothing!

Regular hours at the shop are 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays and 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Wednesdays and Saturdays.

The shop is always happy to accept donations of good, used, clean clothing, household items and toys during store hours. Proceeds from the shop are returned to the community through contributions that support youth and adult programs and services.

Catasauqua American Legion Post 215, 330 Second St., will hold its next breakfast 8-11 a.m. Oct. 13. Come out for all your favorites and order right off the menu. All are welcome!

Note: These breakfasts are now being held the second Sunday of the month.

The Catasauqua/North Catasauqua Halloween parade will take place 7 p.m. Oct. 16. The rain date is Oct. 23.

There is a new parade route this year — start on North 14th Street, turn right on Race Street, turn right on Second Street, turn right on Bridge Street, turn left on Fourth Street, turn right on Buttonwood Street and end at North Catasauqua William J. Albert Memorial Park, 701 Grove St.
