Sherman R. Peters

enjoyed camping, traveling, wood working

Sherman R. Peters, 78, of Germansville, died Sept. 28, 2024, at home.

He and his wife, Jan Sutermeister, were married 14 years in January.

Born Dec. 11, 1945, in Allentown, on a Pennsylvania Dutch farm, he was a son of the late Levi and Ida (Sherer) Peters.

The youngest of 11 brothers and sisters, he graduated from Parkland High School in 1963., then served in the U.S. Army as a radio operator stationed in Korea.

Upon his return, he joined the Heat and Frost Insulators Local 23 in 1968, training to be an insulation mechanic, holding himself to the highest standards of craftsmanship.

He continued to serve in the U.S. Army Reserves for many years.

His hard-work ethic and values led him to start his own business in 1986, eventually retiring in 2010.

He enjoyed music, whether playing the guitar or singing his favorite Elvis songs especially “My Way.”

He enjoyed camping, traveling, wood working, and volunteering his time to help others.

A reserved man of few words, he will forever be remembered and cherished by all that were fortunate to have known him.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by sons James Peters (Laura) of New Tripoli, Bronson Peters (Holly) of Northampton, and Michael Peters (Pamela) of Germansville; siblings Katherine (Frey), Mary Ann (Mains), and James Peters; mother of his children, Miae (Yoon) Peters; grandchildren Ashley, Miae, Christian, Matthew, Abigail and Nathan; and great-granddaughter, Charlotte.

His service will be private.
