devoted mother and grandmother

Marie A. (Szilezy) Lanze, 82, of Allentown, died Oct. 1, 2024, surrounded by her family.

She was the wife of Ronald C. Lanze Sr. for 62 years.

Born in Allentown, she was a daughter of the late Louis and Joyce (Peters) Szilezy.

She loved spending time shopping, going for lunch at her favorite restaurants, Sunday dinners, listening to ’50s and ’60s music, family vacations, playing scrabble with her husband, and hosting holidays with her family.

She was most passionate about her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

The epitome of a matriarch she was an embodiment of the Catholic faith, kindness, strength and love.

Her generous spirit touched everyone she met and she was so loved by everyone.

She was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister and aunt, and leaves a legacy of memories for her family to cherish forever.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by daughters Deanna Shisslak (Jeff); Donna Remaley (Kent); Christina Toth (Bob); Alicia Lanze; and Gina McKelley (Sean); grandchildren Ashley (Matt), Jeffrey (Danielle), Natalie (Brian), and Madison; great-grandchildren Liam, Ellie, Cora, Landon, Kennedy and Callum; siblings Louis Szilezy (Susan), Rose Mary Wechsler, Francine Cernobyl (Irving), Frank Szilezy (Patti), Cecelia Wotring, and David Szilezy (Cheryl); sister-in-law Karen Szilezy; daughter-in-law Tracy Lanze; and many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends who will miss her dearly.

She was predeceased by her son Ronald Lanze Jr.; brother Joseph Szilezy; sister Carol Ernst; son-in-law Brian Maehrer; brothers-in-law Francis Wechsler, Walter Ernst, John Wotring and Thomas Cernobyl.
