LIBERTY HS NEWS by Finn Dougherty
In the first month of school, Liberty has already presented itself as a spectacle around the valley. From sports to various school events, LHS has cemented itself in local conversation.
On Friday, Sept. 27, Liberty’s football team secured a win over East Stroudsburg North, their sixth in the last six weeks. The team has come a long way in the last few years, as this win secures more wins in this season alone than in the last three combined.
What was the big turnaround? Junior Nick Schenkel says it’s all about the time the team has committed to improving locker room chemistry.
“Throughout training camp and the summer, the locker room vibe has been that we are hungry, and we want to prove that Liberty football is a real contender,” Schenkel said. “Even though we’ve had success, this hunger and determination is still a major part of who we are as a team.”
The team looks to continue its undefeated streak looking ahead to future and tougher competition such as also undefeated Freedom HS. Who will ring the bell between these two? Stay tuned for more.
Liberty’s Theatre Company is set to perform “Puffs” this fall, a Harry Potter adjacent show taking place in a land not too far from our own. Though still in early run-throughs, the cast looks to make the most of this experience. The show is set to premiere in November with more information on dates and ticketing coming soon.
On Sept. 8, Liberty held its first official student leadership conference. This provided students a source from which to learn how to help build staff as well as effective ways to work together to make our school a better place. Admin hopes to make this a more regular event for students in leadership roles in the school by encouraging all students to get involved within their community.
The annual homecoming dance was held Sept. 28. With a red carpet theme, this event was sure to get any and everyone involved a night to remember.
