LEHIGH VALLEY WEATHER

Elvis is in the building

On Sunday afternoon, Sept. 29, more than 100 residents and guests filled the dining room of the Birches, a new residential community at 5030 Freemansburg Ave., to enjoy a concert featuring Jeff Krick, a well-known Elvis tribute performer. Except for being taller and much trimmer than The King was later in life, Krick bears a striking physical resemblance to Elvis and has mastered his gestures, and especially his voice.

The audience, composed mainly of people who remember Elvis well, loved the performance of many of their favorite’s greatest hits.

Wearing a copy of Elvis’s white, jewel-studded jumpsuit, white boots and an authentic pompadour hairstyle — he really does look like Elvis – Krick began his performance at the front of the room, where colored lights flashed and a tape deck provided musical accompaniment.

Over the course of an hour, he sang favorites including “Heartbreak Hotel,” “Jailhouse Rock,” ”All Shook Up,” “Blue Suede Shoes,” and “I’m So Lonely Tonight.”

He moved from row to row, greeting guests as he sang, cracking jokes and welcoming individuals. His performance included several gospel songs, beginning with Hank Williams’s “I Saw the Light” and concluding with ”He Is My Everything.”

After the concert several guests commented that they had enjoyed hearing favorite tunes from their youth rendered so faithfully, and that they particularly appreciated the welcome they received from Krick.

As Elvis appears in the doorway, the audience breaks into enthusiastic applause.

Ninety-five percent of Jeff Krick’s performances are Elvis specials. It’s easy to understand why they are popular.
