Library offering various fun, educational activities

Parkland Community Library, 4422 Walbert Ave., South Whitehall, will offer Preschool Story Time for ages 3-5 from 10-11 a.m. on Oct. 10.

There will be story time and a craft.

The library’s coloring club for adults will take place 2-4 p.m. Oct. 10.

Spend an afternoon coloring.

Yarn lovers of all ages and skill levels are welcome to attend the Not Just Knitting group from 2-4 p.m. Oct. 10.

Bring your materials for an afternoon of knitting with friends and swapping tips.

There will be a chair yoga class for adults 10:30-11:15 a.m. Oct. 7.

Chair yoga is a gentle, therapeutic, and accessible form of yoga that uses a chair as a primary prop to modify traditional yoga poses so they can be done while seated and practiced by anyone.

A Teen’s Dungeon and Dragon Night for youngsters in grades seven through 12 will take place 6-8 p.m. Oct. 7.

Senior Book Club will meet 3-4 p.m. Oct. 8 to discuss the novel “Sapiens: A Brief History of Humankind,” by Yuval Noah Harari, at Luther Crest, 800 Hausman Road, South Whitehall.

Residents and nonresidents are welcome to attend.

The Art of Mindful Breathing will take place 6-6:45 p.m. Oct. 8.

Join instructor Larissa Noto as she guides participants through breathing exercises.

Participants will leave this class with an accompanying handout with each of the breathing techniques and more to be able to weave the art of mindful breathing into their everyday life.

There will be a mending workshop for adults 6-7:30 p.m. Oct. 8.

The three basic sewing techniques will be reviewed to help you learn to mend your clothes.

Learn to mend holes in clothes, sew on buttons and stitch on patches.

The workshop will include a needle, thread and practice cloth.

Bring along your own clothes to work on.

The Teen Anime Club for youngsters in grades six to 12 will meet from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Oct. 9.

Be prepared to watch anime and chat while eating delicious snacks.

Adults, join Dave Shallcross, director of Senior Protection Unit from the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General, for a scam seminar 10 a.m. to noon Oct. 10.

Learn how to protect yourself from identity theft and other scams.

Short Story Society will meet to discuss the novel “The Monkey’s Paw,” by W.W. Jacobs, from 3-4 p.m. on Oct. 10.

The Kids Highlights Club for ages 5-7 will meet to engage in fun, easy crafts, and search for hidden pictures in Highlights magazines 6:30-7:30 p.m. Oct. 10.

Adults, joins Patrick Crerand, director of the Master’s in Fine Arts in Creative Writing program at DeSales University, for the library’s writing program Wordsmith 6:30-7:30 p.m. on Oct. 10.
