It’s coming down to the final stretch run in the field hockey season and Liberty has one path toward qualifying for the postseason and that’s to keep winning.
Liberty (6-9) has three games left on the schedule and they need to win all three to clinch a District 11 playoff berth.
“These are all winnable games at the end with the chance to qualify,” said head coach Jill Dorn. “We are confident that they will all be good games and in the end, the Freedom game will be the determining factor. This game is usually played with a lot of emotion as it is a rival game, so it’ll be an interesting finish to the playoff line.”
Liberty has Pocono Mountain West (0-11) and East Stroudsburg South (3-11) this week, which are two games they shouldn’t have a problem winning and close out the season next Tuesday against Freedom.
The Pates (5-7-1) are in a similar situation if they want to clinch a playoff berth, needing to go 3-1 or win two games and draw two games to finish with a record at the .500 mark.
They have a significantly tougher stretch though, playing Stroudsburg (9-5), Pleasant Valley (4-1) and Northampton (9-5) this week.
