K-Kid Roundup Harriers honor seniors
The Northampton cross country team had its senior night on Tuesday, Oct. 1, at Bicentennial Park as the team hosted Allen, Dieruff, and Parkland. The Kids celebrated their three seniors: Abel Veltri, Edwin Wright and Olivia Kuhns.
The girls went 2-1 on the day to raise their record to 8-4 on the season. Liv Kuhns led the way finishing third overall with a time of 20:10. She was followed by Olivia Kuhns (40th - 24:18), Jocelyn Perl (41st - 24:23), Juliana Joseph (51st - 25:52), Aurora Greene (56th - 26:45) and Grace Schall (64th 28:48). There were 77 total girl racers.
The boy finishers were as follows: Edwin Wright (13th - 17:38), Abel Veltri (31st - 18:38), and Tobias Scott (62nd - 20:30). There were 102 racers competing.
The NHS harriers finish up the regular season next week at Louise Moore Park before they head to the postseason meets.
Boys Soccer
The Northampton boys soccer team picked up a couple of wins recently.
The Kids topped Eastburg North 10-0, scoring seven times in the first half. Chase Nederostek and Brody Eisenhart each scored twice in the first half. Sebastian Mello, Lucas Tovar and Jacon Fallenstein also scored.
In the second half, Luca Manino scored twice and Blaise Anderko added a goal. Mello would add three assists in the win and Eisenhart chipped in with two. Alex Schrampf, Lucas Tovar and Dante Keen also had assists.
Xander McDonald and JT Malseed each made two saves in the shutout.
The Kids picked up a win against a top team in the EPC in Pleasant Valley, 5-2.
The Kids trailed 1-0, before scoring twice to make it 2-1 at halftime. NHS goals came from Chase Nederostek and Blaise Anderko. Eisenhart assisted on both first half goals.
The boys would outscore the Bears 3-1 in the second half. Eisenhart scored the next two goals on assists from Lucas Tovar and Dante Keen to help the Kids pull away 4-1. PV would cut the score to 4-2 before Eisenhart secured his hat trick on an assist from Mello.
Ryan Nahf made seven saves in the win.
Tennis
The EPC tennis tournament took place recently.
Claire Lack qualified as the eighth seed in the three singles tournament, but she would face top seed Valentina Munoz of Central and fall 8-1. Munoz would go on to win the bracket.
At three doubles, Emily Kemmerer and Lea Fornarotto qualified as the eighth seed for NHS, and again, went up against the top seed. The girls would fall to Sonia Lee and Kate Gilchrist of Parkland, 8-1. Lee and Gilchrist would lose to Brooke DiGiacomo and Nat Hillegass of Emmaus in the finals.
Northampton’s number four doubles team of Olivia Hayes and Hayden Nagy were also the eighth seed and would drop their opener to Belle Matteson and Riley Zangari of Parkland 8-0. The Parkland team would advance to the finals but lose to Emmaus’ Kylie Gleason and Anshi Kanani in the finals.
Field Hockey
NHS was a 6-1 winner in field hockey over Pleasant Valley recently.
Lauren Reznick led the way with two goals. Kylie McFetridge, Brooke Saul, Grace Roberts and Brooke Spadaccia on a penalty shot were other goal scorers.
Reznick also picked up an assist as did Roberts, Spadaccia and Madison Williamson.
Anayah Accilien scored for the Bears.
The Kids dominated play with a 12-0 advantage in corners and a 16-2 advantage in shots.
