SES observing Wellness Week through Oct. 4

Salisbury Elementary School is in the middle of celebrating Wellness Week Sept. 30 through Oct. 4. Every day at lunch, members of the wellness committee, along with some fourth grade helpers will hand out healthy snacks and bottled water. On Oct. 2 everyone is encouraged to wear yellow, Oct. 3, wear green and Oct. 4, wear blue and white rather than the school T-shirt.

This special week will culminate with the PTO-sponsored Color Run and glow party Oct. 5. The glow party runs 3-4:15 p.m. and the Color Run starts 4:30 p.m. at SES. If you can’t participate in the run, contact the PTO and make a donation to support the PTO as they pay for the field trips, school T-shirts and many other things that make SES great!

Don’t forget about the Salisbury Homecoming parade 5:15 p.m. Oct. 4 starting at SES. Line the streets between SES and Salisbury High School to cheer on our Falcons and maybe snag some candy thrown from the floats! Follow the parade right to the high school and stick around for the Homecoming football game against Saucon Valley.

Oct. 11 is Heavenly Hat Day at SES. Students are encouraged to wear their favorite hat in support of childhood cancer.

Oct. 14 is a teacher professional development day which means no school for students.

The next school board meeting will be 7 p.m. Oct. 16 at the administrative building.

The South Mall, 3300 Lehigh St., Allentown, is holding a Malloween Oct. 17. There will be trick or treat 4-7 p.m. Make sure to wear a costume and bring a bag for candy. Also, it is the last food truck night of the season 4-8 p.m. Last but not least, Damian the Magician will be performing in the center court of the mall 6 p.m. Come enjoy the food and fun!

Yard waste drop-offs are open. The Franko site will be open Oct. 3, 5 and 14. Devonshire will be open Oct. 7, 10 and 12. Hours of operation are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays and Thursdays and 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays.
