LEHIGH VALLEY WEATHER

Old Home WeekEND

Second part of event is held

Bath Borough has concluded the second half of its Old Home WeekEND.

The 2024 event struggled with inclement weather in August, which postponed several of the events.

Borough leaders decided to hold another day later in September at the Ciff Cowling Field. They opted for a 5-8 p.m. event Sept. 20, with local band Bryant Brothers in the lineup. Mayor Fiorella Reginelli Mirabito and Council President Frank Hesch were on hand for the event.

The Bryant Brothers played under a tent, and attendees enjoyed the mix of country and country rock. Hesch noted there is a potential plan on council and the borough’s recreation committee’s minds to have a band stage constructed.

Scout Troop 33 was present, cooking peaches for peach cobblers with vanilla ice cream. Cub Scouts had a presence with their parents staffing the concession stand, selling a variety of picnic foods and refreshments.

The Bath Lions Club had a tent, promoting its mission and activities. The Bath Lions Club is committed to community projects like Old Home WeekEND, Spuds and Spurs and other local activities, as well as international, state and district projects. The club organized May 3, 2016. They are seeking more members. Visit its Facebook page for information.

Haynes Flowers helped the effort by sponsoring the second half of Old Home WeekEND. Haynes is a community- spirited business supporting the Bath community. The flower shop is located at 251 E. Main St., Bath. The website is haynesflowers.com.

The Old Home WeekEND is an extension of an Old Home Week event, held more than 100 years ago in the area. A councilman accidentally discovered the century-old celebration as he was looking through old documents and suggested to council the event be restarted.

Old Home WeekEND, in its current form, mirrors the Bath Borough motto of “Bath, History Nestled with Friendship.”
