Kim Joel Davis

Kim Joel Davis, 72, of Northampton, died Sept. 18, 2024, at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Muhlenberg. He was the husband of Kathleen (Gabryluk) Davis for 52 years.

Born in East Stroudsburg, he was the son of the late Gilbert and Norma (Edwards) Davis.

He was a graduate of Northampton Area High School, Class of 1970, where he excelled in football, basketball, baseball and track.

His passion for sports and education guided him through a distinguished career as a high school teacher and coach in the Northampton Area School District for more than 30 years, most recently coaching boy’s and girl’s tennis.

He played a pivotal role in developing the Peer Helper program and served as an adviser for several student organizations, including Students Against Destructive Decisions, the National Honor Society and the Powder Puff games.

He was involved in Northampton Athletic Association, where he coached football and helped organize and run the youth basketball league.

He was the voice of the Lehigh Valley SteelHawks and frequently announced a variety of NAHS athletic events.

He found great peace working at Silver Creek Country Club and spent many years employed at Bethlehem Steel.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by four children, Melissa, Kyle with Katie, Julie Giordano with Thomas and Ashley with Ryan; a sister, Sindee Funk; and three grandchildren, Lyla and Luci Schneck and Lana Giordano.

Funeral services are private. A celebration of life is being planned.

Contributions may be made to St. Jude or any other organization that supports cancer research.
