Pennsylvania State Police-Troop M, Bethlehem, and Whitehall Township Police Department conducted an enforcement detail on MacArthur Road, Whitehall, Sept. 21.
Between 7 p.m. and 11 p.m., an unsanctioned car meet occurred in the shopping center of 2701 MacArthur Road, according to the report. During this event, between 150 and 200 vehicles assembled in the parking lot with a large gathering of spectators.
As a result of this enforcement detail, both troopers and officers issued a total of 23 traffic citations and 33 warnings. The traffic citations included speeding, inspection, equipment and other Title 75 summary violations.
Motorists are also reminded of the mandates of Title 75 Section 3733 — fleeing or attempting to elude police officer — which stipulates any driver of a motor vehicle who willfully fails or refuses to bring their vehicle to a stop or who otherwise flees or attempts to elude a pursuing police officer, commits an offense, graded up to a felony of the third degree, which carries a maximum sentence of seven years in prison, a $15,000 fine and restitution for damages and/or injuries sustained as a result of the pursuit.
