Dan Schantz Greenhouse & Farm Market is here to stay.
Bob and Melanie Herr of Herr’s Fruit Farm in Lancaster, have completed their acquisition of Dan Schantz Greenhouse, 2031 29th St., SW, Allentown. Bob and Melanie Herr feel honored by the enthusiastic reception they have received from the local community.
Their initial intention was to lease the property for the spring flower season. However, when they opened their doors, the customer response was so overwhelmingly positive, they knew they had to stay.
“We are excited and honored to be able to continue Dan Schantz’s tradition as the Lehigh Valley’s premier garden center, Bob and Melanie Herr said. “With Dan’s blessing, we will keep the Schantz name and continue to offer the area’s best selection of top-quality annuals, perennials, tropical plants, cacti and houseplants. We will of course continue to offer other seasonal delights, including pumpkins and mums in the fall, Christmas trees, wreaths and poinsettias in December and roses for Valentine’s Day.”
Customers will recognize many familiar faces, since many former Schantz employees have returned to join the team. “We are blessed by this group of friendly, talented and hardworking employees.”
They have added their own touches by adding their amazing Lancaster County farm-fresh fruits and vegetables, along with a full line of homemade pickles, jams and pure honey.
“We are excited to be a part of the Lehigh Valley community,” Melanie Herr said. “This has been a labor of love. We have spent many all-nighters cleaning, painting and upgrading the facilities.” Our hearts are filled with gratitude for our loyal customers, awesome employees and the City of Allentown for embracing this endeavor.”
Herr’s Fruit Farm is a sixth generation family business providing Lancaster County’s finest flowers, fruits and vegetables and Christmas trees to residents of Central Pennsylvania for over 110 years.
Join them Oct. 5 for their official grand opening celebration and fall festival. They promise a day filled with fun: free food, games, door prizes and lots of specials on flowers, pumpkins and fruits.
