Alice Mary Timothy, 93, world traveler and educator, died Sept. 23, 2024, surrounded by family. Born in Manhattan, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Fintan Patrick Timothy and Alice Lynch Timothy.
She grew up in Laurelton, Queens and Long Beach, Long Island.
She received her early education at St. Mary Magdalene School (Springfield Garden) and The Mary Louis Academy (Jamaica Estates).
She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in speech/English from The College of New Rochelle and advanced degrees from New York City University in theater.
Her professional experience included Dun & Bradstreet as a personnel security investigator, the Turkish government teaching English as a second language and in New York City high schools as a teacher of speech and theater, retiring after serving 25 years as the assistant principal at Brooklyn Tech High School, specializing in speech and music.
She is survived by Timothy Custer and his wife, Kimberly; niece, Margaret Custer and nephew, Michael Custer; Sean Custer and his wife, Kiki Mueller; Laura and Scott Custer; Terrance Custer; Dr. Meghan Custer. She was predeceased by sibling, Margaret (Peggy) Custer, and her husband, Terry Custer.
Contributions may be made to Animal Kind in Hudson, N.Y. or the Murray Hill Neighborhood Association in New York, N.Y., where she served on the board of directors.
Services are private at the convenience of the family. Arrangements were made by the Schantz Funeral Home, P.C., Emmaus.
