With the EPC realigning their divisions, Northampton and Whitehall are no longer guaranteed to have a home-and-home series each year in those sports which have always had three divisions. The Konkrete Kids and Zephyrs faced off for their only girls volleyball match of the year Friday afternoon at Whitehall.

While the Zephyrs were able to come back from 23-22 down in the third set to win the set 25-23, the rest of the match was owned by the K-Kids as they won, 25-13, 25-16, 23-25, 25-14.

Whitehall head coach Cristal Fernandez summed up the match from her team’s perspective, “A little good, a little bad. We had our moments where we found the holes they were giving us. Serve/receive was our biggest downfall tonight. We couldn’t side out. We came back fighting in set three, but in set four they went into a turtle shell, afraid to make a mistake.”

Northampton head coach Mike Holihan noted two of his players whose performances stood out, “Addison (Morgan) with her setting. She’s making really good decisions. Morgan Chandler absolutely killed it today. She tore it up. I’m really proud of her.”

Northampton is 8-4 on the season and 7-4 in the EPC. They have what should be an easy match on Saturday against North Schuylkill to lock up a district berth. The Kids’ other games are rematches against the rest of the EPC Northampton Division. They went 3-2 the first time through the division and probably need a similar result to lock up an EPC tournament bid.

Whitehall is 4-10 overall, 3-10 in the EPC. They should pick up a couple of wins against Dieruff and Allen down the stretch but have a difficult schedule outside of those schools.
