Helen M. Troller

great-grandmother of 10

Helen M. Troller, 105, died peacefully on Sept. 19, 2024, at the Manor at Market Square, Reading, leaving behind a legacy of love, strength and dedication.

Born in Girardville, Schuylkill County, she was a daughter of the late James and Irene (Haley) Rafferty.

She was the beloved wife of the late Edward R. Troller for 44 years, before his death in 1985.

Together, they built their family home in 1949, a storybook Cape Cod house with a white picket fence, where they raised their two daughters.

Survivors include her daughters Patricia Seagreaves of Clayton, N.J., and Rosemarie Althouse (David) of Reading. She was the proud grandmother of Christopher Seagreaves (Janeen), Patrick Seagreaves (Catherine), Theresa Althouse, Jessica Floyd (David), and James Althouse (Jaime); and 10 adoring great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her sister Loretta McGinley, son-in-law Thomas Seagreaves and granddaughter Elizabeth Seagreaves Murray.

During World War II, she worked at Vultee Aircraft Co., for which she analyzed and interpreted blueprints for the U.S. Navy, contributing to the war effort.

Later, she managed the Russell Stover Candies store, Allentown, for 20 years.

A lifelong resident of Allentown, she was an active member of St. Elizabeth of Hungary Roman Catholic Church, Whitehall, for 75 years.

In her youth, she was an Allentown champion mibster, defeating all the boys in marbles in the early 1930s.

She loved gardening and baking, and cherished visits from her family.

She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Fr. Joseph J. Kweder 11 a.m. Sept. 28 in St. Elizabeth of Hungary Catholic Church, 618 Fullerton Ave., Whitehall. Her viewing will begin at 10 a.m.

Interment will follow in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, Whitehall.

Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Elizabeth Region School, 433 Pershing Blvd., Whitehall, PA 18052.

Arrangements were made by Gilbert Funeral Home, Whitehall.
