Some 108 disc golf players and their supporters gathered at Neffs Valley Park on Sept. 7 to play in the first Neffs Volunteer Fire Company disc golf fundraiser.

During the event, a downpour brought out the umbrellas but despite the rain, the spirits of the competitors were not dampened.

“It was a very successful event and I and my volunteer firefighters are looking forward to next year’s tournament,” Neffs Fire Chief Jim Steward said.

Lt. Jim Cantelmo of Stillwater, N.J., had the winning duck in the rubber duckie race down the Coplay Creek, Steward said via email to The Press.

“We sold out of the 100 ducks for the race,” he added.
