Class participants gather to honor late aerobics teacher

There was a heartwarming gathering of attendees Sept. 21 before Coplay Borough’s aerobics class to honor the birthday of the former instructor, the late Donna DeLucia.

DeLucia, of Whitehall, died March 26, 2022, at 77. Her life and memory were honored by the exercisers, family and friends. DeLucia was appreciated by all who knew her, not just at aerobics, but also as a 40-year employee in Whitehall-Coplay School District.

Having a passion for fitness and aerobics, it was said DeLucia led the aerobics group with exuberance, particularly when she was coming off a day when she felt she ate too much. The members then received a harder workout than usual, it was noted.

Holly Harry, of Whitehall, the current instructor, coordinated the birthday and memory tribute for DeLucia. The gathering featured her picture, flowers and some fruit to eat after the exercise class.

The group also collected money to donate to the American Cancer Society in her memory. Approximately $492 was raised. If you want to donate to the effort, contact the borough office at 610-262-6088.

Another way to honor DeLucia is to consider joining the classic aerobics classes, which are held 8:45 a.m. Saturdays and 7 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays in the gymnasium at borough hall, 98 S. Fourth St.
