Hokendauqua: Haunted Hayride in the Parkway to start
Whitehall Fire Department will be holding its annual Haunted Hayride in the Parkway program 7-11 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays through the end of October at Whitehall Parkway, 4689 S. Church St. The dates are Sept. 27 and 28 and Oct. 4, 5, 11, 12, 18, 19, 25 and 26.
There is a cost, but children ages 5 and younger attend for free; discount coupons are available at whitehallfd.org.
Parking is free, and refreshments will be available. All proceeds benefit the fire department.

Hokey Eagles invites all to a Salute the Troops game 11 a.m. Sept. 28 at Bob Warke Field, 3151 Lehigh St. Members of the military will be honored during three of the football games against the Wilson Warriors. There will also be a bake sale, ice cream truck and more.
Proceeds benefit the football team and cheering squad.

Whitehall Historical Preservation Society will hold a cash bingo 6:30 p.m. Oct. 4 at St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, 4 S. Fifth St., Coplay. Doors will open 5:30 p.m.
In addition to bingo, there will also be specials, a basket raffle and a 50/50 drawing. Refreshments will be available for purchase.

Hokendauqua Park & Playground Association has announced registration for the 2024-25 basketball season is open through Oct. 6. There are boys and girls divisions. There is a cost.

WHPS has open houses scheduled for 1-3 p.m. Oct. 20, Nov. 17 and Dec. 15 at the Helfrich Springs Grist Mill and Peter Grim Homestead, 501 and 506 Mickley Road, respectively.

Mark your calendar for these Halloween-themed events.
• Whitehall’s annual Halloween parade will start 7 p.m. Oct. 24; an optional date of Oct. 23 is also possible. Prizes will be awarded in three categories: most original, overall appearance and most spirited.
There is a new parade route this year, which is as follows: Staging will be in the Whitehall High School parking lot, 3800 Mechanicsville Road. The parade will pass in front of WHS, continue straight across Whitehall Way around the new Gockley Elementary School, crossing Zephyr Boulevard and passing Steckel Elementary School, Whitehall-Coplay Middle School and Zephyr Elementary School. The route continues, turning left onto Campus Drive and ending at Schadt Avenue Park and Playground. Participants can exit east or west on Schadt Avenue if returning to the WHS parking lot for transportation.
Food trucks — including Caribbean Islands Cuisine, Hoff’s Kettle Corn, Take a Taco and Vince’s Cheesesteaks — will be located at the playground parking lot and will be provided before and throughout the parade.

• Trick-or-treat night in the township is set for 6-8 p.m. Oct. 25. The rain date is Oct. 26.
