Fire company dedication Sept. 28

The Western Salisbury Fire Company Station 31 dedication ceremony will be held noon Sept. 28.
The event, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Frank McCullough Sr. Park, 950 S. Ott St., includes:
- Station tours
- Safety trailer
- Fire trucks on display
- Bake sale and raffle prizes
- Food trucks
Proceeds benefit the fire company building fund.
In other business, the Salisbury Township Board of Commissioners approved a Memorandum of Understanding to provide a school resource officer for St. Thomas More School.
The commissioners voted 4-0 with one commissioner absent at the Sept. 12 meeting, to approve the MOU.
Commissioner Alok Patnaik made the motion, seconded by Board of Commissioners Vice President Rodney Conn, to bring the motion to a vote.
“It’s the first time there’s a school resource office in a Diocese school,” Salisbury Township Chief of Police Donald Sabo said.
Also at the Sept. 12 meeting, commissioners voted 4-0 to approve:
- Resolution authorizing the disposition of taxidermy wildlife from Ravenwood Manor, 3015 Barrington Lane. Four of the taxidermy wildlife, including a buffalo, will be transported to a taxidermy firm in Lancaster. Conn made the motion, seconded by Commissioner Heather Lipkin.
- Motion entering into a three-year agreement with Lehigh Valley Humane Society for Animal Control Services for Salisbury Township. Conn made the motion, seconded by Lipkin. “We have a good relationship with them (Humane Society],” Salisbury Township Manager Cathy Bonaskiewich said before the vote.
- Motion accepting a time extension to Dec. 1 for the major subdivision project at 621 E. Lynnwood St. Lipkin made the motion, seconded by Patnaik.
- Motion approving request for well isolation distance waiver at 175 Mountain Park Road. Lipkin made the motion, seconded by Conn.
The Salisbury Township Planning Commission meets 7 p.m. Sept. 25 in the municipal building, 2900 S. Pike Ave.
The planning commission agenda includes reviews of:
- Major subdivision, 621 E. Lynnwood St., submitted by Thomas P. Williams Jr. which proposes to subdivide one lot into six lots for the development of four twin dwellings and two single-family detached dwellings. The property in the R4, medium density residential zoning district was last utilized as a greenhouse.
- Review of land development project at 1030 E. Emmaus Ave., 1108 E. Emmaus Ave. and 1210 E. Emmaus Ave. submitted by Vistas at South Mountain Holdings, LLC, which proposes to consolidate three lots into two and develop 88 townhomes on Lot 1 and a single-family detached dwelling on Lot 2 along with required infrastructure and site improvements.
The overall lot size is 48.5197 acres. Lot 1 will contain 47.1873 acres with frontage along East Emmaus Avenue, Lot 2 will contain 1.2506 acres of land with frontage along Honeysuckle Road and 0.0819 acre will be dedicated as right of way along Honeysuckle Road.
The property is in the R3, medium low density residential and the conservation-residential zoning districts and is vacant land. All dwelling units will be in the R3 zoning district boundaries.
The Salisbury Township Board of Commissioners meets 7 p.m. Sept. 26 in the municipal building.
The Salisbury High School Key Club, in collaboration with the League of Women Voters, is holding a voter-registration drive 10 a.m. to 1 p. m. Sept. 28 in the lobby entrance of Salisbury High School, 500 E. Montgomery St.
