Egypt/Cementon: Egypt VFW to hold music bingo, trivia

Enjoy playing music bingo and trivia 7 p.m. Sept. 26 at Egypt Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7293, 5209 Springmill Road.

The Post will also host the Castaway Band 7 p.m. Sept. 27. Concert admission is free for members, but there is a cost for nonmembers.

The Haunted Hayride in the Parkway, hosted by the township’s fire department, will begin Sept. 27 and continues every Friday and Saturday through October at 4689 S. Church St., Egypt.

There is a cost (cash only), but children under age 6 are admitted for free. Proceeds benefit the fire department.

The event will not be held during inclement weather.

The program’s trick-or-treat event will be held 2-5 p.m. Oct. 5. There is an admission fee for adults, but children in costumes are admitted free.

The department is seeking donations for a basket raffle during trick or treat. Basket donations are needed by Oct. 1.

A reunion of seven decades of Egypt friends and neighbors is set for 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Sept. 28 at Egypt Memorial Park, Hillcrest Lane and Curt Simmons Drive.

Highlights include an opening ceremony featuring the Egypt VFW honor guard noon; buffet luncheon by Kornfeinds 12:45 p.m.; presentation by Whitehall Historical Preservation Society starting 1:15 p.m.; Whitehall High School band performance 2 p.m.; bingo, games and dancing starting 2:30 p.m.; a cake walk 3:15 p.m.; group photos 3:45 p.m.; and cake, ice cream and door prizes 4:30 p.m. Times for events are approximate.

Tour the Troxell-Steckel Farm Museum, 4229 Reliance St., Egypt, 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Sept. 28. Tours include the historic farmhouse, built in 1756, and information about Pennsylvania Dutch gardens.

Admission is free to Lehigh County Historical Society members and children under 2. There is a cost for non-members.

Aerobic fitness classes will be offered 6-7 p.m. Oct. 3, 10, 17 and 24 at Egypt Memorial Park, 4540 Hillcrest Lane. All levels are welcome.

Bring water, a mat or towel and a set of dumbbells. There is a cost.

Laurel Fire Company, 5114 Third St., Cementon, will be holding a basket raffle 5-10 p.m. Oct. 11 and 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Oct. 12. You need not be present to win.

Donations of baskets or gift cards are welcome.

Also, PopRoxx will perform at the fire company 7-10 p.m. Oct. 18. There is a cost.

The youth group of Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, 4331 Main St., Egypt, is holding a hoagie and sandwich fundraiser. Delivery will be Oct. 13.

Egypt Community Church will host the Don Sunshine Ministry Make a Difference event, set for 9 a.m.-noon Oct. 13 in the sanctuary, 4129 S. Church St. All are invited.

Congratulations to the winners of Whitehall Lions Club’s 49th annual sweepstakes fundraiser. Sheri Hausman and Karen Yonney, of Whitehall, earned the $500 first prize; Bill Meckes, of Whitehall, won the $400 second prize; Cathie Clary, of Whitehall, won the $300 third prize; Al Thomas, of Coplay, received the $200 fourth prize; and Donald Hagenauer, of Whitehall, got the $100 fifth prize.

Proceeds of the fundraiser fund Whitehall Lions Club service projects.
