Zephyr Roundup: Girls edged by Parkland

Whitehall’s field hockey team fell to Parkland 2-1.

The Zephs took a 1-0 lead thanks to a goal by Lydia Keppel, which was assisted by Emily Kern.

But the Trojans would tie it up in the first quarter on a goal from Roselia Birns and assisted by Jordan Bruhnabend.

The scored remained tied until the fourth quarter when Lila Temchatin scored unassisted.

The girls had a big win, blanking Pocono Mountain East 5-0.

The Zephs scored on a goal from Audra Sommer to make it 1-0 in the first. Ella Grohotolsky had the assist. Sommer struck again in the second to make it 2-0 on a pass from Molly McFetridge.

McFetridge would make it 3-0 on a pass from Olivia Fonzone in the third. Josie Shultz made it 4-0 in the third thanks to a Kerigan Dreisbach assist.

Dreisbach found the back of the net in the fourth from Fonzone.

The girls topped Pleasant Valley 9-0.

Again it was Kerigan Dreisbach getting the team off to a good start. She scored the first two goals of the game. Molly McFetridge assisted on the first goal. Dreisbach’s second goal was unassisted.

Liv Fonzone, on a pass from McFetridge, made it 3-0 to close out the first quarter.

McFetridge would pick up her third assist in the second quarter as Dreisbach notched her hat trick with her third goal of the game.

Emmy Kern made it 5-0 heading into halftime as Josephine Shultz had the assist.

Lydia Keppel made it 6-0 after three quarters with an unassisted goal.

Rylan Young, on an assist from Dreisbach, made it 7-0 before Kydia Keppel, on McFetridge’s fourth assist of the game, made it 8-0.

Aniya Cartagena scored the final goal on a pass from Shultz.

The Zephs outshot PV 25-1 and had 14 corners to PV’s 1.

Whitehall was a 2-1 winner over Liberty.

The Hurricanes scored the first goal as Juliana Zumas found the back of the net on a pass from Ava George.

But the Zephs would rally and tied the game in the first quarter thanks to Olivia Fonzone’s goal on a pass from Dreisbach.

The two team’s played scoreless field hockey until the fourth quarter when Sarah Mullin scored on a pass from McFetridge, which secured the win.

Whitehall’s girls soccer team was a 5-1 winner on the road over Pleasant Valley.

Unfortunately, no Whitehall information was provided to the Press.

The Zephs dominated the shots with 25 to PV’s six.

In last week’s issue, the Press misspelled Audrey Muller’s name in the photo caption. The Press apologizes for the error.

The Kids golf team beat Whitehall at Southmoore’s par-71 course 371-424.

The Kids’ 371 score was helped by Gavin Pychinka’s 71. Kohler Strohl shot 72 and Jayden Bleiler was next with a 73.

NHS also got nice performances from Gabe Gower’s 77 and CJ Stumpf’s 78.

Whitehall was led by Jack Loyd’s 81.

Matt Nomie shot 83 as did Julian Saba.

Logan Shean carded an 87 and Brett Cohan had a 90.
