LEHIGH VALLEY WEATHER

LHS, FHS to square off

Field hockey teams in the city are looking to find their footing as we eclipse the first third of the season this week. Liberty (4-6) and Freedom (3-4-1) are battling to keep themselves near the .500 mark.

The Hurricanes have lost three straight games, including Monday’s 9-0 shutout against EPC top dog Emmaus. That loss was preceded by a 7-2 defeat to Nazareth (7-1), who is battling with Emmaus and Easton for the top spots in the conference this season.

Liberty has another tough showdown with Easton (8-1) on Wednesday, followed by a rivalry showdown with Freedom on Friday.

The Pates snapped a five game winless streak with a 12-0 victory over Bethlehem Catholic last week and get a chance to inch closer to the .500 mark with a showdown against a winless Pocono Mountain West team on Wednesday before battling the Hurricanes to round out the week.

Becahi (1-8) picked up their first victory of the season last week in a 1-0 triumph over Pocono Mountain West.

The Hawks face Pleasant Valley, Northampton and Salisbury this week.
