Field hockey teams in the city are looking to find their footing as we eclipse the first third of the season this week. Liberty (4-6) and Freedom (3-4-1) are battling to keep themselves near the .500 mark.
The Hurricanes have lost three straight games, including Monday’s 9-0 shutout against EPC top dog Emmaus. That loss was preceded by a 7-2 defeat to Nazareth (7-1), who is battling with Emmaus and Easton for the top spots in the conference this season.
Liberty has another tough showdown with Easton (8-1) on Wednesday, followed by a rivalry showdown with Freedom on Friday.
The Pates snapped a five game winless streak with a 12-0 victory over Bethlehem Catholic last week and get a chance to inch closer to the .500 mark with a showdown against a winless Pocono Mountain West team on Wednesday before battling the Hurricanes to round out the week.
Becahi (1-8) picked up their first victory of the season last week in a 1-0 triumph over Pocono Mountain West.
The Hawks face Pleasant Valley, Northampton and Salisbury this week.
