Freedom’s Nick Hoffman once thought he would be playing baseball during his high school career.
However, Hoffman quickly changed his course in eighth grade and began to spend his time on the links.
“I started with the game the day after I quit baseball,” said the senior. “My grandfather took me to the range the day after, and I fell in love with the game from then on.”
Since the start of this season, Hoffman has watched his game improve.
“My season had a rough start, but as the season went on, I built my confidence on decent rounds,” he stated. “I then built to great rounds.
“My strength right now is mu up-and down game. I’m not hitting many greens now, so my main focus is irons.”
Hoffman is part of a core group that hoped to lead the Patriots in the postseason. Beginning last week, Freedom had a 7-6 mark and they were on the bubble for the East Penn Conference (EPC) tournament. But, they dropped their final two matches, including against Liberty, and failed to make the team playoffs.
Still, his team was in the hunt.
“As a team, we have a lot of talent, but we had a couple of unfortunate losses,” added Hoffman. “We hoped to battle back in our last two matches and in the EPCs.”
Hoffman will now look forward to the individual tournaments.
