Whitehall Township Public Library: End of life planning workshop to be held Sept. 24 at library
The Five Wishes: End of Life Planning workshop, led by Carole Silvoy, INELDA-trained end of life doula, will be held 6 p.m. Sept. 24 at Whitehall Township Public Library. Five Wishes creates advanced care directives for not only the legal and medical issues but also how we’d like to be treated, what we’d like to be around us when dying, what our legacy will be and how we are remembered.

Join Laura Long, vice president of independent living at Fellowship Community, and Cathy Bogardo, financial counselor at Fellowship Community, 3 p.m. Sept. 25 as they discuss the difference between independent living, personal care and a skilled nursing home.
The discussion will include what Medicaid covers and the difference between Medicaid and Medicare. This presentation is designed to give you valuable information regarding retirement options.

The book sale is planned for 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Sept. 27 and 28. There will also be a bag sale noon-3 p.m. Sept. 28 at $5 per bag.
The library is accepting lightly used books, DVDs, CDs, puzzles and games for the September book sale. We can accept three bags or boxes at a time.

Dr. Gallis returns for another weird science event — It’s Electric — set for 6 p.m. Oct. 2. This dynamic science demonstration features a series of thrilling electrostatic activities that will spark your curiosity and light up your imagination.
The program is for youth in grades 3-7.

The library will host a yoga-themed storytime, presented by Lovely Little Lotus. Youth ages 6-10 will meet 5 p.m. Oct. 7, and tots ages 2-5 meet 10 a.m. Oct. 17.

The library’s fall basket raffle is scheduled for Oct. 25-Nov. 2. The library is currently accepting donations of gift cards, filled baskets or items for baskets that we’ll build for you.
Ticket presale begins Sept. 30.

The library is participating in Friends Helping Friends. Donate $5 at our front desk and receive a 25% saving pass to be used at Boscov’s Oct. 22.

The library has a number of clubs that meet monthly.
The book club for adults meets 1 p.m. the first Thursday of every month. Come discuss what you’re currently reading.
The coloring club for adults meets 11 a.m. the first and third Thursdays and 5:30-7:30 p.m. the first Tuesday.
The Good Yarn group meets for knitting, crocheting and other needle crafts 6 p.m. the third Tuesday of the month.
Teens interested in volunteering can join the Teen Advisory Board. Meetings are 1:30 p.m. one Saturday a month.
