Ravenwood Manor open house, online auction dates set

It could be the biggest “open house” in Salisbury Township and, nay, the Lehigh Valley in many a year.

The open house for Ravenwood Manor, 3015 Barrington Lane, in western Salisbury is noon to 3 p.m. Sept. 28 and Oct. 6, Sanford Alderfer Real Estate announced on its website.

An online auction for the property begins 9 a.m. Oct. 11 and concludes 1 p.m. Oct. 16, according to the Alderfer website.

A donation agreement with Ravenwood Manor, LLC, for the fire-damaged property was accepted by a 3-0 vote at a March 28 meeting by the Salisbury Township Board of Commissioners, which voted 4-0 at its Aug. 8 meeting for Alderfer to handle the online auction.

Attorney Jason A. Ulrich, partner, Gross McGinley LLP., township solicitor, told commissioners, “This generous donation will be favorable for the township.”

Now nearly three years after the fire, the Alderfer website touts the property thusly:

“Estate Compound on 4.62 Acres in Salisbury Township, Lehigh County, PA - Ready for Renovations!”

The listing goes on to state:

“This French Estate sits on 4.62 acres at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac and presents a rare opportunity for those with a vision. The east wing has been carefully taken down, and the main residence has been stripped to the studs, making it the perfect canvas for your dream renovation.

“This stunning compound offers a magnificent main residence with seven-car garage, an expansive guesthouse with attached garage space that can accommodate up to nine vehicles and two separate apartments.

“This estate is not just about the residence; it’s about lifestyle. With garage space for 16 cars, it’s a collector’s paradise.

“The exterior architectural details are nothing short of impressive, complemented by terraced gardens and a pool with a cascading waterfall.

“Located just 50 miles north of Philadelphia, 90 miles west of New York City and minutes from Queen City General Aviation airport, this property offers a peaceful retreat with convenient access to major urban centers,” the website states.

The Alderfer website sets terms for the online auction:

Buyer’s Premium: 10% buyer’s premium based on the high bid.

Closing: Within 60 days after township’s approval. Sold in as-is condition. No contingencies.

Deposit Amount: 10% deposit of total purchase price.

Ravenwood Manor is off Lindberg Avenue and overlooks Oxford Drive (24th Street).

Before the fire, Ravenwood mansion was described as 36,800-square-feet, with six bedrooms, 22 bathrooms, spa bath, two kitchens, bar, elevator, cathedral ceiling, family room with fireplace and with the property including an in-ground pool with waterfall and terraced garden, according to the website, Homes.com.

The mansion sold for $6.4 million Nov. 15, 2021, to a group of New York investors, according to an article in The Press.

According to a Nov. 30, 2021 article in The Press, a housewarming party was held Nov. 15, 2021 at Ravenwood Manor.

A multi-alarm fire damaged the property Nov. 16, 2021, according to The Press.

Two firefighters from Cetronia Fire Department, South Whitehall Township, were injured, The Press reported.

Salisbury Township Chief of Police Donald Sabo stated Aug. 12 to The Press, “The cause of fire is listed as undetermined.”

After the fire, the estimated value of the property was $1,733,461, according to Realtor.com.
