Louis Rusnock
Louis Rusnock, 72, of Whitehall, died after a fight against pancreatic cancer Sept. 16, 2024, with his family by his side. He was the husband of Elisa (Piergrossi) Rusnock for 45 years.
Born in Hazleton and raised in Kelayres, he was the son of the late John and Anna (Ciglar) Rusnock.
He started his career as a teacher with Berks County Intermediate Unit and moved to Carbon-Lehigh Intermediate Unit as a supervisor. He served as director of special education and student services at North Penn School District before finishing his career as director of special education at Montgomery County Intermediate Unit. After retiring from public schools, he served as director of special education for the diocese of Allentown.
He was a member of the former Blue Ridge Country Club, Palmerton, and Bonita National Golf and Country Club in Bonita Springs, Fla. He recorded a hole-in-one at Willow Brook Golf Course in October 2020.
He was a member of St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, Coplay.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children, Louis II and Stephanie Simon of Philadelphia, Rebekah of Bethlehem and Sarah of Whitehall; a brother, John and wife Jackie of Reading; a sister, Imelda and husband George Lawrence of Mechanicsburg; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
There will be a calling time 6-7:30 p.m. Sept. 22 at the funeral home, 2119 Washington Ave., Northampton, 18067. There will be a visitation 9-10 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian burial 10:30 a.m., Sept. 23 at the church, 4 S. Fifth St., Coplay.
Contributions may be made to Special Olympics Pennsylvania-Greater Lehigh Valley Pocono Region or Lehigh Valley Health Network Topper Cancer Institute, both c/o the funeral home.
