Salem United Church of Christ will be having a ham and cheese sandwich sale. Orders are due by Sept. 20, and pickup will be Oct. 8 at the church, 615 Third St.

St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 122 Union St., will hold its Oktoberfest Sept. 21. The event begins 4 p.m. with a German-themed Mass, featuring Robbie Lawrence, along with the church’s choir, in the church. Following Mass, Robbie Lawrence and the Steel Workers Band will perform on stage in the parish center.

The kitchen will be selling German beers and your regular favorites, as well as German-themed foods — bratwurst, chicken schnitzel and spaetzle — 5-9 p.m.

To keep admission free, no outside food or drinks are permitted.

Note: Due to scheduling obstacles, the event is taking place a month early this year.

Whitehall Active Community Center, 2301 Pine St., West Catasauqua, will have its next cash bingo Sept. 22. Bingo begins 1 p.m., and doors open noon. Bingo will continue with tricky tray, 50/25/25 raffle, piggy number, lightning game and more.

There will be refreshments available for purchase.

Those attending are asked to bring a nonperishable food item donation for Whitehall Food Pantry. Also welcome are paper products (facial tissues, paper towels or toilet paper) and pet food. You will receive a strip of specials to be played on the first four specials — not the jackpot.

Reserving seats is not necessary; however, you are welcome to do so.

Note: Remember the community center has now increased its cash prize payouts.

Catty Seniors Plus will hold its next meeting 1 p.m. Sept. 25 at Slovak Center Social Club, 1233 Fifth St., North Catasauqua. Doors open noon.
