Allen Township: Historical society plans Sept. 21 tours

Governor Wolf Historical Society, 6600 Jacksonville Road, East Allen Township, will offer free tours of the three historic buildings, grounds and new museum 1-3 p.m. Sept. 21. Guides will discuss the history of each building, Gov. George Wolf and details about items in the museum.

Tours are always on the third Saturday of each month, from April to November. No reservations are needed. GWHS provides tours for groups and social organizations at other times.

Enjoy a chicken barbecue dinner, to benefit St. Peter’s United Church of Christ, Oct. 5. The drive-thru pickup times are set for 4:30-5 p.m. or 5:15-5:45 p.m. at the church, 8142 Valley View Road, Seemsville.

The meals are made by Lorah’s Pig Roasters and Farm Market and include half of a barbecue chicken, baked potato, coleslaw and dessert.

Orders are due by Sept. 22.

Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 1335 Old Carriage Road, Kreidersville, is holding an autumn basket social from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Oct. 4. There are more than 60 baskets and gift cards.

The kitchen will serve food, drinks and desserts.

A free outdoor movie night featuring “Hocus Pocus” will be held 6:30 p.m. Oct. 4 at Zion’s Stone United Church of Christ, 51 Church Road, Kreidersville. There will be a concession stand and a free treat bag for kids.

The Raccoon Club, 7662 Tanglewood Road, Allen Township, will be hosting Boondock Barons 7-10 p.m. Oct. 4. The event is open to the public.

The club is also hosting a basket raffle from noon to 6 p.m. Oct. 12 and 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Oct. 13, with the drawing starting 3:30 p.m.

There will be more than 125 baskets and a cash prize. Food will be available for purchase.

Lappawinzo Fish and Game Association, 25 Lappawinzo Road, Allen Township, will host its monthly members breakfast Oct. 15. There is a cost.

East Allen Township will host a trunk or treat 5-7 p.m. Oct. 19 at Bicentennial Park West, 5351 Park West Lane. There will be prizes.

Those participating may start decorating their vehicles 4:15 p.m. and are asked to stay until the end of the event.
