Union UCC having BBQ Bash

Union United Church of Christ, Neffs, will stage a Backyard BBQ Bash with food and entertainment in the grove on Sept. 21. Refreshment stands open at 4 p.m.
The local band, TimeWhys, will provide music from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Chicken and pork dinners from Lorah’s will be available for purchase.
Children’s Church will resume at Union UCC on Sept. 15.
Children, ages 3 and older, begin at the 10:30 a.m. worship service in the sanctuary with their parents.
They then move on to their own space for songs and stories with education and youth leaders of the church.

Laurys Station Community Day will take place noon-8 p.m. Sept. 21, at 5314 Egypt Road, at the fire company and athletic fields.
The event will include food, craft vendors, a basket raffle, live music and activities for kids.

St. John’s United Church of Christ, 1415 Rising Sun Road, Laurys Station, will celebrate Harvest Home during the 10:15 a.m. worship service on Sept. 22.
The sanctuary will be decorated as those present give thanks for God’s bounty.
Donations of items for the food bank will be accepted, as well as monetary contributions for ECHO, an organization that helps to feed hungry people around the world.

The Auxiliary of Northern Valley EMS, NOVA, is taking orders for its shoofly pie fundraiser.
Call Julie at 610-262-7749 by Sept. 16 to reserve shoofly pies for pickup on Sept. 22 or 23.

Union Lutheran Church, Schnecksville, reports on a successful collection of school supplies for students who are clients of Northern Lehigh Food Bank or Parkland CARES.
Donations included 15 packs of colored pencils, 22 packs of markers, 20 packs of pens, 50 glue sticks, seven bottles of glue, 24 scissors, 62 spiral notebooks, 10 packs of notebook paper, 13 packs of highlighters, 13 sets of earbuds, 54 cartons of crayons, 19 packs of pencils, 14 packs of erasers, and more.
