NWL field hockey starts season 3-0

The Northwestern field hockey team opened the season with three straight wins, all coming against Colonial League opponents.

In the season opener, Northwestern (3-0-0 Colonial, 3-0-0 overall) beat Salisbury (3-1-0, 3-1-0) by a score of 3-0. The Lady Tigers followed that up with their first road game of the season as they traveled to Wilson (0-2-0, 1-2-0) and downed the Warriors 5-1.

With two wins under its belt, Northwestern was back at home last Friday and picked up its second shutout of the season with a 7-0 win over Moravian Academy (0-3, 0-4).

Goals by Taylor Langley and Hannah Gober in the first quarter gave the Tigers a 2-0 lead and they put the game away in the second quarter when Gober opened the scoring with her second goal of the day. Carsyn Van Norman added two goals and Faith Slifer finished off the second quarter scoring to make it a 6-0 advantage for the Tigers.

McKensy Miller added a goal with 6:35 left in regulation to cap the scoring and secure the win.

Results and statistics from other Tiger field hockey games were not received by the Press.

In the next week, Northwestern will host rival Northern Lehigh (0-3, 0-4) and play on the road at Palisades (0-2-1, 1-2-1) and Saucon Valley (2-0-0, 2-1-0)
