After a season-opening loss to Northwestern Lehigh (3-0-0), the Salisbury field hockey team snapped right back to gain a pair of wins against Colonial League opponents.
The Falcons picked up a 4-1 win over Palmerton and then shutout Catasauqua 6-0 to up their league and overall record to 2-1 on the season.
Lauren Kushma is off to a strong start for the Falcons with four goals in the three games.
Kushma’s first goal of the season came against Palmerton (3-2-0). She followed up with a three-goal game against Catasauqua (0-2-0) two days earlier.
Junior Kendra Morgan also had a three-goal game against the Rough Riders with Kushma and sophomores Ellie Schneider and Katie Carbone all adding assists in the 6-0 win.
Against Palmerton, Kushma was joined in the scoring by Schneider, Gywn DeFazio and Maya Afif.
In its three games, Salisbury has allowed just four goals while scoring 10 times in the early going.
Salisbury has a young team with Kushma and Afif serving as the only seniors on the team. The rest of the roster is made up of seven juniors, seven sophomores and five freshmen.
The Falcons host Kutztown in their first nonleague game of the season and then return to league play with a home game against Moravian Academy (0-3-0) Saturday and an away game at Pen Argyl (2-0-1) on Tuesday.
