LEHIGH VALLEY WEATHER

Liberty field hockey team sitting at 4-3

It’s been a mixed bag of results for Liberty’s field hockey team, but Jill Dorn has confidence her group can build on the flashes they’ve shown.

The Hurricanes are 4-3 on the year, winning the games they’re supposed to and coming out on the wrong side in games against some of the tougher opponents in the league.

It’s all part of the growing process for the group that recently knocked off Pocono Mountain East 4-0. Prior to that, Liberty endured a mini skid with back-to-back defeats to Parkland [4-2] and Nazareth [6-0].

“So far, the team has shown really great moments of improvement,” said Dorn. “They played Parkland very strong, with adjustments made as the game moved on. With Nazareth, we had a little tougher time adjusting to the speed of the players, however we get to play them again this Saturday to see if our improvements were made.”

Liberty starts the week off against Whitehall (3-1) before their weekend tussle with the Blue Eagles (5-0), as Dorn looks for constant improvement from her group.

“We’ve spread out the scoring,” she said. “We have 10 players from the roster who have contributed to our overall statistics. Looking to continue to improve upon the speed of our decision making as the season progresses.”

Freedom (2-2-1) have been up and down as well, as the Pates have lost to Whitehall and Nazareth as of late, mixed in with a draw against Palmerton.

They have tough week ahead against Emmaus (7-0), Easton (5-1) and Bethlehem Catholic (0-5).

The Golden Hawks are searching for their first win and have a chance this week when they take on East Stroudsburg South (2-5) and Pocono Mountain West (0-5).
