Joanne M. George, 78, of Neffs, died Sept. 8, 2024, in Phoebe Home, Allentown.

She was the wife of the late Glenn R. George.

Born Jan. 22, 1946, in Allentown, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Margene I. (Kistler) Scharl.

She was a bookkeeper at ATAS International Inc., Fogelsville, for 20 years before retiring.

Before that, she worked at Eichler Wood Products, Laurys Station, for 18 years.

She was a member of Union United Church of Christ, Neffs, a past president of the former Upper Lehigh Lioness Club, Schnecksville, and a former superintendent of the baked goods area in the Agri-Plex at The Great Allentown Fair.

Her survivors include a son, Earl P. George and his wife, Jeanine Villano-George, of Walnutport; and grandson Anthony T. George of Delran, N.J.

She was predeceased by her sister, Diane L. Hughes.

Her funeral service will be 11 a.m. Sept. 16 at Heintzelman Funeral Home Inc., 4906 Route 309, Schnecksville, with Pastor Carrie Beleno officiating.

Family and friends may pay their respects 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Interment will follow the service at Union Church Cemetery, Neffs.
