Emmaus girls volleyball starts 5-0

The Emmaus High School girls volleyball team has had a successful start to the 2024 regular season, winning its first five matches, four of which were in the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference. All five matches were won in three sets.

The Hornets defeated Northampton and Dieruff, both in straight sets, last Wednesday and Thursday, respectively. The scores against the Kids were 25-16, 25-21 and 25-20, in favor of Emmaus. In the win over the Huskies, the Hornets won by scores of 25-12, 25-5 and 25-19.

Against Northampton, Alyssa Heffner finished with 12 assists, 13 digs and two aces. Amanda Rivera tallied eight kills, three aces and five digs. Maleya Hinds recorded eight kills. Sierra Stevens totaled 10 assists.

In the victory over the Huskies, Hinds led the attack with nine kills and contributed 10 digs. Fiona Answini tallied five kills and Cirrae Cuffy finished with four kills and two aces.

Emmaus has three conference matches this week in the span of four days. The Green Hornets were at fellow unbeaten Allentown Central Catholic this past Monday night and then played at East Stroudsburg South Tuesday evening. They host Pleasant Valley on Thursday night.
