Emmaus boys soccer tops Whitehall, Allen

The Emmaus High School boys soccer team started its 2024 regular season with some positive momentum, winning its opening two games, both in Eastern Pennsylvania Conference competition.

The Green Hornets took down Whitehall 5-0 in the home and season opener last Tuesday night, August 27. They followed that up two days later with a 2-1 victory against Allen at J. Birney Crum Stadium.

In the win over the Zephyrs, Emmaus scored three first-half goals and added two more in the second half.

Kai Mattern led the way with two goals and Callum Harvey, Brayden Dang and Gabe Reyes each found the back of the net once. Ethan Dublin tallied two assists and Harvey added one.

Will Peck made just one save in net as the Green Hornets outshot Whitehall 22-2 overall and 14-1 on goal.

Against the Canaries, both Emmaus goals came in the second half as Canyon Reinhardt and Reyes did the scoring for the Hornets with Miles Cook and Robbie Tumblin recording the assists.

Gavin Yartymyk finished with two saves. Emmaus held an 11-4 advantage in shots with 8-3 on goal. They also had seven corners compared to just one for Allen.

Emmaus hosts Pocono Mountain East in an EPC game Wednesday and then plays Central Catholic on Saturday morning at Muhlenberg College.
