The Salisbury field hockey lost its opening game to start the 2024 season. Since then the Falcons have gone on a nice roll with six straight wins to up their overall record to 6-1-0 with their Colonial League record standing at 5-1-0 through the early part of the season.
The Falcons played their first nonleague game this past week and downed Kutztown 8-1. From there, they returned to their Colonial League schedule and responded with a pair of shutout wins with a 5-0 win over Moravian Academy (0-6-0 Colonial, 0-7-0 overall) and a 2-0 win over Pen Argyl (1-4-0, 2-4-1).
Ahead of those three wins was a 6-1 win over Wilson. In that win, the two lone seniors on the team – Maya Afif and Lauren Kushma – both scored two goals with Katie Carbone and Kendra Morgan both notching goals as well.
The defense has allowed just six goals all season with three of those coming in the opening loss to Northwestern Lehigh (6-0-0, 6-0-0). Meanwhile, the offense is averaging over five goals per game.
Over the next week, Salisbury has home games against Catasauqua (3-2-0, 3-2-0) and Palisades (0-3-1, 1-4-1), and travels to Center Valley to face Southern Lehigh (4-0-0, 4-1-0). The lone loss this season for the Spartans also came in their season opener when they faced EPC powerhouse Parkland and fell 1-0.
