The CROP Hunger Walk, held each October, is a fundraiser created to respond to hunger, poverty, displacement and disaster. Allentown Area Ecumenical Food Bank is recruiting for three key volunteer positions: Coordinator, Publicity Leader, and Online Promotion Leader. Ending hunger is possible in our lifetime. Join PBS39 & 91.3 WLVR for the 49th Art In The Park on September 14 in West Park, Allentown, celebrating the work of artists from Lehigh Valley and beyond. Artists will exhibit and sell original artwork in all forms. Volunteers will be tabling & engaging with folks about our arts programming, and education programs. We will have giveaways, too. Assist residents, their families, and staff with purchases and selections in Phoebe Allentown Nursing Home’s gift shop. Duties include running the cash register, preparing coffee, arranging snacks and pastries, and opening/closing duties. Certified Pleasure of Your Company Therapy Dog teams visit with patients at St. Luke’s. Handlers and their dogs walk with patients. Visits are scheduled based on your availability. The Kindness Project is seeking volunteers to help prepare and run their semi-annual yard sale fundraiser. Items need to be moved from the boutique in Emmaus to Bethany Church in Macungie 3-8 p.m. on October 4. Help is also needed for set-up and assisting patrons beginning 8 a.m. on October 5. The 15th Annual Ready, Set, GO(LD) 5K Walk, 8K Run, and Kids’ Fun Run, hosted by Pediatric Cancer Foundation Of The Lehigh Valley will be held September 14 at the Ironton Rail Trail in Coplay, PA. Volunteers are needed between 7 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. for water stations, raffle tables, check-in tables, set-ups, and clean-ups. Time varies for each volunteer station.
