Remembering Peg DeAngelo

Seventeen years of dedicated work deserve recognition. Margaret (Peg) DeAngelo served as the property manager of four buildings at the Moravian House Senior Center on Old York Road in Bethlehem for 17 years, until her death at age 61 in February 2022.

Peg was lovingly referred to as the “House Manager” by the residents. To show their appreciation for her years of service, the Moravian House Tenants Association dedicated a tree to Peg in August.

A flowering dogwood was placed in front of the second building from Old York Road, where it will greet visitors and residents.

Rita Gambler, Tenants Association treasurer, addressed residents and members of the DeAngelo family gathered for the dedication ceremony.

“Today the Moravian House Tenants Association remembers Peg DeAngelo, an outstanding, caring person meeting the needs of the tenants,” she said. “May this dogwood tree bloom each spring, reminding us of new life with pink flowers and the cheerful spirit she shared with so many.”

Pam Stevens, association president, presented a plaque to Peg’s widower, Michael DeAngelo, who placed the plaque in front of the tree. The plaque reads, “Tree planted in living memory of Peg DeAngelo, 17 years House Manager, Love in Action.”

Michael DeAngelo then placed a beaded cross on the tree.
