Christine L. Chromiak, 57, of Catasauqua, died Aug. 31, 2024. She was the wife of Jeff Rhone.
She was the daughter of Virginia “Gin” and Robert “Wabs” Chromiak.
She graduated from Catasauqua High School where she participated in drama, chorus and band. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Shippensburg University.
She worked at East Penn Sanitation as a secretary, NationsCredit as a foreclosure specialist and Mack Trucks in various capacities in the human resources department. She then decided to become a teacher.
She went to night school and earned a certification from East Stroudsburg University and taught in Northampton before moving to Connecticut and working the bulk of her career at North Haven Middle School. She continued her education receiving a master’s degree in library and information sciences from Southern Connecticut University.
She was a sidekick on her husband’s radio show — the Lost Discs Radio Show — for more than 20 years.
Upon receiving the diagnosis of ALS, she and her husband sold their home and moved in with her parents. She was involved in research trials, which she hoped would one day find a cure for patients.
In addition to her husband and parents, she is survived by two brothers, Gregg with Donna and Gary with Toni; two sisters, Leslie with Mike and Jane with Neil; a relative from her husband’s side of the family, Gary with Roseann; nieces and nephews; and great-nieces and nephews.
