Catasauqua: Morning Glories to meet Sept. 16

The Morning Glories of Holy Trinity Memorial Lutheran Church will meet 10 a.m. Sept. 16 at the church, 604 Fourth St. The speaker will be from Fostering Home.

Donations for this month are diapers of any size.

Presbyterian Church of Catasauqua, 210 Pine St., will hold its monthly free community lunch for all 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Sept. 16. Come out for some great food and camaraderie with fellow Catasauqua residents.

The Friends of Catasauqua Parks group will meet 6:30 p.m. Sept. 18 at the municipal complex, 90 Bridge St. The mission of the group is to improve the quality of life for Catasauqua residents through recreational fundraising events to sustain the parks.

The group meets the third Wednesday of each month and is always looking for new volunteers and members. There are no costs or dues to pay to join this group.

Salem United Church of Christ, 615 Third St., will hold a ham and cheese sandwich sale.

Orders are due by Sept. 20. Pickup will be Oct. 8 at the church.

St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 122 Union St., is excited to announce its ninth annual Oktoberfest will be Sept 21.

The afternoon begins with the 4 p.m. German-themed Mass, featuring Robbie Lawrence and the choir in the church. Following Mass, Robbie Lawrence and the Steel Workers Band will perform on stage in the parish center.

The kitchen will be selling beer and German-themed foods such as bratwurst, chicken schnitzel and spaetzle 5-9 p.m.

To keep admission free, no outside food or drinks are permitted.

Holy Trinity Memorial Lutheran Church is sponsoring a chicken marsala dinner Oct. 12 at the church. Seatings will be 4:30 p.m., 5 p.m., 5:30 p.m. and 6 p.m.

The menu includes chicken marsala over pasta with salad, rolls and dessert.

Reservations are required by Oct. 6. Call Mary at 610-440-0475.

Cost is by donation, and all proceeds benefit Allentown Rescue Mission, an organization dedicated to giving hope to homeless men in our community.
