Field hockey teams look for progress early in season

It’s been a mixed bag of results for field hockey teams to start off the season. Freedom is 2-1 so far through the campaign with wins over Bangor and Pocono Mountain East. The Pates lost to Whitehall last week 3-2 in overtime.

Ivy Avitable scored twice in the loss for the Pates, as she’s second on the team in goals with three. Karee Vandever leads the Pates with four goals on the season.

The Pates have Palmerton and Nazareth on deck this week.

Liberty (3-2) has picked up wins over Bangor, Stroudsburg and Pleasant Valley, but lost close ones to Honesdale and Parkland.

The ‘Canes face Nazareth and Pocono Mountain East this week.

Bethlehem Catholic is struggling out of the gate, losing all four games to start the year. The Hawks don’t have much reprieve this week with Parkland and Northampton on deck.
