Over the years we have had mysterious disappearances of items in our living room. First, about 14 years ago, it was Ben’s glucose meter. We had set it on the side table and when we went to get it later, it was nowhere to be found. Despite an exhaustive search, we never did find it. A few years later, I received a lovely pair of earrings at Christmas. When we cleaned up later, we couldn’t find them. We even went through the wrapping paper in the trash. They never did turn up.
Most recently, I was working on a puzzle in the living room. I was down to the last piece and it was nowhere to be found. We have a patterned Oriental rug on the floor so I actually got down on my hands and knees and felt around for it. I had purchased the puzzle at a yard sale so I assumed that it was missing a piece when I bought it.
Later I asked my husband to look around to see if he could find it. My husband is a thorough searcher; he also had no luck. At the end of the evening, I was getting ready to put the puzzle away and Matt spotted the missing piece on the rug where we had both already searched. At this point, we have both decided that our living room is either haunted or inhabited by poltergeists!
