The Seed Farm: Hands-on workshop set for Sept. 28 in Emmaus

Learn the basics of saving seeds for a small farm in a half-day practicum with Amirah Mitchell, of Sistah Seeds. The workshop will be held, rain or shine, 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Sept. 28 at The Seed Farm, 5854 Vera Cruz Road, Emmaus.

The workshop will start with participants in the field learning how to determine when a crop is ready to save seeds and will then help bring in the harvest. After lunch, participants will learn wet and dry seed processing methods on the crops harvested that morning.

Equipment highlights include millet wet seed separator, DIY zigzag aspirator and additional processing methods.

Participants will gain a sense of what seed saving can look like for a small-scale farm and will get hands-on experience with seed crops.
