Lower Milford Fall Festival set for Sept. 28

Lower Milford Township will welcome crowds to the 22nd annual Lower Milford Fall Festival 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 28 on the township building campus, 7607 Chestnut Hill Church Road.

The festival, held rain or shine, traditionally features activities for kids, music performances, wagon rides, vendors, artisans, craft demonstrations and food trucks.

This year’s festival also will include the Lower Milford Township Cutest Pet Photo contest. Contest categories include cats, dogs, farm animals and other furry friends. Voting will be open through Sept. 25 online and at the township building. The winners will be announced at the festival.

And speaking of cute talented animals, the Southern Lehigh Public Library, the home library for Lower Milford Township residents, will host its next “Tail Wagging Readers” event 10 a.m. to noon Sept. 14. Friends of Southern Lehigh Public Library continues its series “Evenings with Friends” with the program “Ladies of History: Adrienne de Lafayette” 7-8:30 p.m. Sept. 18 at the library, 3200 Preston Lane, Center Valley. Alisa Dupuy will portray the title character, the wife of Marquis de Lafayette, the French aristocrat and military officer, who volunteered to join the Continental Army in the American Revolutionary War.

On Sept. 26, the Upper Milford Historical Society is scheduled to welcome Benjamin Franklin, yes THAT Benjamin Franklin as portrayed by Kirk Brown, to its monthly meeting at the Upper Milford Township building, 5671 Chestnut St.

The program begins 7 p.m. Visitors may view the historical society’s exhibits and displays beginning 6 p.m.

The Hivel Und Dahl Preservation Society, another historical society in Upper Milford Township, will host a program on cider making 7 p.m. Sept. 24, also at the Upper Milford Township building.

The Bauman Family Apple Butter business of Sassamansville will be featured in the presentation. Visit the website www.hivelunddahl.org for details about the program and the historical society and its mission.

Looking ahead, The Seed Farm’s Farm-to-Table Dinner is scheduled 4-7 p.m. Oct. 5 in the farm’s greenhouse at sunset. Diners will enjoy a four-course dinner, cocktails and music performances. Also, mark your calendar for Oct. 14 when Upper Milford Western District Fire Company, Old Zionsville, will host a chicken barbecue. Pick up is scheduled 3-6 p.m. or until sold out. Tickets are required and the dinner includes one-half Kauffman’s chicken, baked potato, applesauce and dinner roll. The next meeting of the Lower Milford Township Board of Supervisors will be held 6:30 p.m. Sept. 19 at the township building.
