Zephyr Roundup: Big, early win for field hockey team

The Whitehall field hockey team got off to a good start, beating Pocono Mountain West 10-0.

Kerigan Dreisbach got things started with three-straight, unassisted goals.

Lydia Keppel and Ava Kneller would combined to score the next five goals for Whitehall. Keppel made it 4-0 and 5-0 before Kneller’s goal made it 6-0. Keppel scored again followed by Kneller on an assist from Jayleen Kassis to make it 8-0.

Ava Kozak made it 9-0 on a pass from Molly McFetridge and Dreisbach scored her fourth goal, and for the Zephs the 10th and final goal.

The tennis team dropped a 6-0 match to Stroudsburg, which moved to 3-0 on the season after the win.

The girls soccer team dropped a home match to Emmaus, 6-0.

Kam McWhinney scored three times for the Hornets to be the difference-maker.

Other goals for EHS were scored by Giuliana Meyer, Lizzy Bender and Morgan Tandy. Bender had three assists in the game.

Zephyr keepers were busy as Cora Musselman made 10 saves and Dayna Nelson had three saves.

The boys soccer team had a similar fate against Emmaus, falling 5-0.

The Hornets used three first half goals and then added two more in the second.

Emmaus’ Kai Mattern scored twice, and Callum Harvey, Brayden Dang and Gabe Reyes scored one each.

Ethan Dublin had two assists and Harvey added one. EHS had 22 shots on goal.
