Hawks pick up a victory on road

Bethlehem Catholic might be young, but that doesn’t mean the Hawks don’t know how to win on the varsity level.

Becahi hit the road to the Harrisburg area last week and came away with a 28-14 win over East Pennsboro.

The Hawks overcame a pick-six interception in the first quarter by Cayden Vassa to push ahead to a 21-7 lead at halftime before closing things out in the final 24 minutes.

Becahi also recovered three fumbles and picked off East Pennsboro quarterback Aaron Angelo to register four turnovers.

“Any time you come out on top you’re gonna be happy with the outcome,” said head coach Tyler Ward. “Not a clean game and made plenty of mistakes, but I’d rather make corrections after a win. Was happy with the offense and how we got a lot of people involved. Four or five guys caught passes and we rotated seven different offensive linemen. Having guys play some different positions was really good.”

The Hawks now travel to Emmaus on Friday night to take on a Green Hornets squad that lost to Neshaminy last week 20-17.

“With most of the schools in the EPC there’s not a lot of rebuilding,” said Ward about Emmaus. “They probably came away from that loss upset because I think they were better than the team they played. We’re going to have to show up and be at our best level.”

Emmaus defeated Becahi last year 10-0.
