LEHIGH VALLEY WEATHER

Schools closed Aug. 30 and Sept. 2

I hope everyone had a fantastic first day of school for the 2024-2025 school year! Please note all township schools will be closed Aug. 30 and Sept. 2 for the Labor Day holiday. School will reopen Sept. 3.

With the beginning of school, comes picture day – Salisbury Middle School students will have their photo taken Sept. 6. Salisbury Elementary School will follow with picture day Sept. 16.

SES will have T-shirt days every Friday this school year. Plan ahead and make sure that prized shirt is clean for your youngest Falcons to wear with pride.

A friendly reminder … as school reopens, our children will be getting on and off bright yellow school buses with flashing lights. These buses are now equipped with cameras. If you choose to not stop and let our children safely enter and exit buses, you may find yourself with a “not so fun” ticket in the mail … and the potential to be shown on the ever entertaining Salisbury Township Police Dept. Facebook page for all to see. In order to avoid this, just remember to stop behind those buses.

Western Salisbury Volunteer Fire Company will host a community dedication ceremony for its new firehouse 11 a.m. Sept. 28. They will have food trucks, a raffle and much more. This new station is a long time in the making; let’s support them with their new home!

The Salisbury Athletic Booster Club will hold a clothing drive 9 a.m. to noon Nov. 2. Drop off your unwanted clothing and other household items at the Salisbury High School auxiliary gym and help the booster club. A list of items accepted is available on clothingdrive.net. The truck will pick up donations between noon and 1 p.m.

The township yard waste drop off sites are open. The Devonshire site will be open Aug. 29 and 31 and the Franko site will be open Sept. 5 and 7. They are open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays and Thursdays and 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays. Both sites will be closed Sept. 2 for Labor Day.
